I love the outlet of creativity that making cards provides me. In 1999 I began making cards for my family and friends.
One day while preparing for yet another move, I was cleaning out boxes in the closet and ran across old birthday cards and special occasion cards. I realized that after a while, all of the cards began to look like each other. I had an instant thought that I wanted to provide something different. If my family and friends were cleaning out boxes of old memories. I wanted my cards to be the ones they wanted to keep. The cards they hated to throw away. The cards they wanted to use in a scrapbooks, etc.
The idea to sell never crossed my mind; until a discussion one fateful day at Tin Star restaurant in Dallas, TX with my good friend, Joe Weir. Joe was speaking of making opportunities for ones self outside the corporate environment. I said these words aloud, "I don't have any ideas of how to provide a product or service that the public might want". Joe disagreed. He asked, "What about your cards?" That started a whole discussion of "what if?". Next thing I know we are building a website, discussing marketing, branding, naming a business, etc. Joe and I are in advertising, and soon it seemed we were speaking of a client and how we could help them build their business.
I was so motivated & excited at that point, I ran home and stayed up virtually all night making cards!
I spoke with my family and friends to see if my cards might be something the general public would want and the feedback I kept receiving was, "I cannot believe you have not started selling them yet. Can I be your first buyer?"
My desire is to bring unique, handmade cards to people who want to provide a smile for a family member, friend or colleague during the course of life's special occasions. Or, a desire to send a simple "Hello" that will brighten a day.
